"Finished" Dogs by our standards are dogs that are steady to the gun, retrieve to hand, whoa broke, and are already beginning to honor another dog. In other words, it's a dog you would be proud to own as a completed hunting dog that adapts well to the field and the home. Considered the "best specimen" for a hunting dog, and one that is guaranteed not to do foolish things in the field. The dog should be considered robotic, predictable, and yet trust-worthy.

All dogs that are known to swim and go after ducks will be introduced to ducks, swimming, boats and blinds by the time they have turned two. In most cases, these dogs have had extensive hunting opportunities hunting ducks in a blind.
